Ray Nylen, Administrative Director
Ray began
his teaching career in 1972 with individuals with
developmental disabilities. He received his Bachelor of
Arts Degree in Sociology from University of the Pacific
in 1972 and his Elementary Credential in 1973. He worked
as a teacher and later as a Program Specialist at
Stockton Developmental Center (SDC). During this time he
continued his education receiving his Severely
Handicapped Credential in 1979 and his Learning
Handicapped Credential in 1980.
After eight years of service at SDC, Ray co-founded
Central Valley Training Center, Inc. (CVTC) in May of
1982. From 1982 to 1992 he served as the Program
Director for the Stockton Behavior Management Program.
Beginning in 1992, he has worked in Administrative
Services as the Operations Director, Finance Director,
and currently as the Administrative Director. In 1994 he
became the President and sole owner of CVTC.
Ray enjoys sports and has been involved in coaching
youth sports since 1992. |

Sherry Kahler, Controller
Sherry began working for Central Valley Training Center
in 1997 in the Administrative office. She worked for
Ramada Inn in Merced, California for six years
performing accounting functions. Sherry left Central
Valley Training Center in February 2006 for 15 months to
pursue a position as Staff Accountant in a different
field. Sherry returned to Central Valley Training Center
in May 2007 as Accounting Supervisor. In July 2009,
Sherry accepted the position of Controller and became a
member of the Executive Team. She is currently working
towards her Bachelor of Science in Business/Accounting.
Sherry enjoys spending time with her family and camping
with her family and five dogs. |

Sonya Fox Watson, Regional Operations Director
Sonya received a Bachelor of Arts
Degree in Psychology with an emphasis in human services in
1999 from California State University, Sonoma. After working
ICF-DD facilities while attending school, she began her
career as a Qualified Mental Retardation Professional and
Facility Manager for two ICF-DDN facilities.
Sonya accepted the position of Program Director of CARES at
Central Valley Training Center, Inc. in July of 2001 and
transferred to Another Way in December of 2001. After five
years, Sonya transferred to Program Director for the
Stockton Behavior Management Program in August of 2006. In
May of 2007, Sonya completed her Master’s in Business
Administration from California State University, Sacramento.
Sonya was granted the position of Operations Director in
June of 2007 and currently oversees the operations of the
Stockton and Modesto Behavior Management Programs.

Christine Couch Hager,
Regional Operations Director
Christine has been working in social services since 1992. She has a
Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and a Master’s Degree in Counseling
Psychology.
Christine is an activist and advocate for people with disabilities.
She began her career at Stockton Developmental Center (SDC),
advocating for people with disabilities to move into the community,
make choices, and live life to the fullest. After the closure of the
Developmental Center she joined the staff at Valley Mountain
Regional Center (VMRC). Christine was a Service Coordinator for two
years and a Community Services Manager for three years while at the
Regional Center. She spent the next two years as a consultant for
various social service agencies including San Joaquin County
Children’s Mental Health.
She was the Program Director for CVTC’s Stockton Day Program for two
years before becoming the Program Director of CVTC’s Modesto Day
Program. In November of 2005, she joined the Administrative Services
Team as the Quality Assurance Director. In 2008, Christine accepted
the position of Regional Operations Director and now oversees the
operations of Another Way, CARES, and the Merced Behavior Management
Day Program.
She continues to be a volunteer for the Self-Advocacy Council IV,
supporting the movement of People First.

Susan Akbiyikian, Southern Regional
Director
Susan has been working
in social services, psychology, and health fields since 1978.
Susan’s passion and desire to work with varied populations lead her
to Central Valley Training Center (CVTC) where she was the Program
Director for the Fresno Behavior Management Program and was a valued
member of the organization for 10 years.
In the fall of 2007, Susan returned to CVTC as a Regional Operations
Director and continues to support and assist the organization in its
continued growth and success. Susan is a graduate of California
State University, Fresno and has an advanced degree in Clinical
Psychology from the University of California at Los Angeles.
Susan and her husband enjoy world travel; her hobbies include
reading, kayaking, and riding her dressage horses. |

Sheila Beauchamp, Director
of Human Resources
Sheila began her career
in human resources in K-12 education over twenty years ago. She has
experience in labor relations, workers’ compensation, benefits
administration, recruitment, training, and organizational
development. Sheila received her Bachelor of Science Degree at the
University of San Francisco.
She supports the Stockton Symphony, Calaveras County of Arts,
California Trout, and Bear Valley Music Festival. She likes fishing,
sports, arts, and the outdoors.

Daniel Hogue, Director of
Resource Development
Daniel has been
providing services to people with developmental disabilities since
1993. He began his work in this field as a direct trainer teaching
independent living skills and soon became a Vocational Evaluator for
the agency for which he worked. In 1997, he branched out as an
independent contractor of Central Valley Regional Center providing
independent living skills training and case management to adults in
the Fresno area. As demand for services grew, he took on a business
partner and established a full-fledged Independent Living Program.
After obtaining his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology, Daniel
left the independent living specialization field in 2003 and joined
the Central Valley Training Center (CVTC) team in April of 2004. He
has worked with CVTC in establishing programs in the Central Valley
Regional Center catchment area directing the Merced, Fresno West,
and Visalia programs at various times. Daniel took a short leave of
absence in August of 2007 to pursue options with another company.
Daniel returned to CVTC in July of 2008 as the Director of Resource
Development within the Executive Management Team.
Daniel completed his Master of Science Degree in Rehabilitation
Counseling from California State University, Fresno in May 2009.
Daniel enjoys spending time with his friends and his son as well as
riding his motorcycle. |
