Individuals who have developmental disabilities are an under valued part of communities. Our community needs contribution and participation from every member. The human condition is blessed with joy punctuated by pain, and love which is defined by grief. Individuals naturally want to participate fully in the life cycle, including the lessons and responsibilities of childhood, adolescence, adulthood and maturity. Because of these similarities in people rather than differences, and parallels rather than contrasts, we assist with facilitating the integrated, self directed lives of individuals who participate in living while being affected with a developmental disability. Another Way services are delivered in an individualized, one assistant with the individual format. Services are available to adults who choose to live in a home of their own, these services provide assistance to individuals allowing meaningful choice and control over their daily lives.

"My experiences with Another Way has been wonderful. The people that work with me help do things that I love doing. Without the Another Way staff, I could not do all the things I enjoy".

Wendy Hougland
Program Director

Wendy began working with individuals with chronic mental illness while earning her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from California State University Sonoma. She then went on to University of the Pacific where she completed her Master of Arts Degree in Psychology with a behavioral emphasis in May of 2007. Wendy continued working with individuals with chronic mental illness throughout graduate school in a variety of settings, an experience that inspired her to create and implement a Master’s Thesis which successfully reduced the number of violent staff/client interactions that took place within a private mental facility. Wendy’s desire to continue working within the field of human services led her to accept the position of Program Director of Another Way at Central Valley Training Center in April of 2008. Wendy enjoys reading and watching old movies, as well as traveling to new and exciting places with her husband.
