Disability Awareness Day
September 19, 2008
Stockton, CA
Central Valley Training Center, Inc. recently participated
in a Disability Awareness Day held on September 19, 2008 at Stockton’s
Downtown Webber Point Event Center as put on by the City of Stockton’s
Mayor’s Task Force. The event received the support from the City of
Stockton, The State of California and San Joaquin County. Parents, care
providers, high school teachers, mentors, counselors, social workers and
families of those who have disabilities were amongst those who turned out
for the event.
Participants from every spectrum of service were there from educational,
vocational, and hospice type organizations. C.V.T.C. represented the
services it offers by passing out pamphlets, business cards, key chains,
pencils and pens. Additionally, C.V.T.C. had a representative on site to
answer questions that people may have. Those attending were informed that
people with disabilities have three times lower turnover rate in the
workplace than the average person, and that C.V.T.C. was committed to
helping people reach their goals! Events such as this help to raise
awareness of people who are searching for options of services offered to
people who have developmental disabilities.
Thank you Stockton for letting us be a part of this special event!
